Things to do…

March 26, 2007 by rbnelson

I’ve decided to compose a list (in no particular order) of at least 5 things that I want to do/get done, whether it be for the short term or long term.

    1. Blogging + more: I’ve never been into blogging much. I tried it back in college, but I ended up posting novels because I would wait so long between posts. Although I’ve used digg for a long time now, it’s been a while since I’ve actually “dugg” something. So, I’m going to start doing that some more (which can be seen on the sidebar) and I’m sure that I will use the “Blog this” option for stories that I really like. I’m very new to using del.icio.us and flickr, but I will try to keep them updated with new things as well (also seen on the sidebar). I’m in the process of uploading some of the good pictures from my trip to England to Flickr.

    2. Home Theater: I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but the thought of how awesome it will be to have once I get it done has overwhelmed me enough to actually start doing it. I’ll post a lot more on this later as the project progresses, such as equipment, pictures, etc..

    3. Working out and eating healthy: I started doing this a bit more when I lived in Oxford, well..mainly the eating healthier part. I did probably walk a couple of miles on days that I had class cause I had to park so freaking far away and I played basketball around the house every now and then, but that was pretty much the extent of my exercise. This all pretty much came to a stop once I went on vacation, then came back and lived with my parents until I found a house. My mother found it necessary to cook meals almost every night, which was amazing compared to the stuff that I had been eating while living in Oxford. Anyway, hopefully I can get back to eating better again and start doing some cardio and weight training to get into better shape. It definitely won’t be anything like The 300 Workout

    4. Playing guitar: I played in a band with some friends back in highschool, but I had just started playing then and wasn’t that great. I’ve picked it up off and on over the years and learned a few new things, but it has all been fairly basic. I want to actually *learn* to play the guitar this time around and learn songs that are a bit more challenging. I know that it will take me years and a lot of practice to get really good at it, but I’m not in a big hurry :)

    5. Photoshop, CSS, and AJAX: Well, I’m really not doing that bad on the Photoshop part. I’ve used it for years now and I’m constantly watching or reading tutorials on how to do things, but there are a lot of aspects of it that I have no idea how to use that I would like to learn. I understand the basics of CSS; like setting font types, sizes, colors, etc..but doing the floats with divs and all that confused the hell out of me the first time I tried it. I eventually figured it out after reading a few tutorials, but I’m still not 100% sure on how some things are done. AJAX is going to be something completely new for me. I’ve read a few articles on it and I get the basic idea, but I haven’t tried anything hands-on with it as of yet. I don’t expect to be a guru in any of these, but I would definitely like to be able to hold my own in them without having to look up tutorials when I decide to do something using any of them.
